Summer Color Surprise Blog Hop!

First of all, I'd like to thank our wonderful hostess, Lisa Lodge, for planning and compiling my beautiful little bag of beads for this blog hop!!  It was simply stunning.

My Surprise package included Magnesite, Turquoise, Czech Glass, Seed Beads and Chinese Crystal.

And it was all in BLUE!!  My absolute favorite color in the world! So, Lisa did a great job!

I created a simple necklace that I am calling Summer Skies.  I love "fringed" necklaces, so I decided to make one using these gorgeous beads that Lisa sent.  The necklace can be worn short or long, it has an extender in the back, and after hours of wire bending, it came into its own.  There were some Czech Glass flowers in the mix, so those were tossed in as well, perfect for a sunny summer day.

Considering that we have had an inordinate amount of rain this summer, and have had only one sunny weekend out of the last eight, I thought that a good reminder of blue skies was in order!

Bead Hoarders Blog Hop

Of course you would know that in my infinite wisdom, I did not take a picture of my little pile of beads.

This is sort of a short post, though.  I have pile of beads that are orange.  I rarely use orange.  It's one half of the school colors of my University rival, the Florida Gators, and well, I can't really not use blue, so I sort of naturally boycott orange.

Well for the blog hop, I decided to use this pile of orange beads that has been sitting in a little Tupperware bowl on my beading desk, taunting me with their sunset hue, for forever now.  There were some pretty vintage acrylic bicones, seashell chips, seashell teardrops, seashell rounds as well as some orange seed beads and a few little daisy spacers just to throw in some whimsy.

I have to say, though, that I may have to change my opinion of orange after this, because I am actually really liking this color palette!

Since this has been one of the wettest summers I can remember, I am going to call this Sunset Tangerine! :)  Reminds me of warm sunny days.
